Who They Are

The channel was ran by a Canadian couple, Simon and Martina, who vlogged their life’s in Korea and Japan . Sometimes they vlogged the places they vacationed. The real dislike for the couple started when they started reviewing Kpop groups and songs and of course fans of those groups started to dislike them. This drew a hard line in people that liked eyk and people that disliked them (besides people that just found them cringe).

Controversy

Here’s bullet points so we can all catchup.

It was said Simon and Martina lived in Korea for 7 years without knowing the language and many were upset.

At 1:53 they deny the rumor. They point out the video is older but they were trying to imply they weren’t good at speaking Korean not that they didn’t speak it at all. However now they are more confident and actually just speak Korean when out and about unless they are talking to each other. There’s still speculation however. (I also believe that if they knew any other language to a good amount they would of milked it for YouTube views and made a bunch of lesson videos. Especially for Korean since that’s were they got their most views but this is my opinion)
Mocked Korean idols for poor English skills when they cannot speak Korean.
I have no proof to approve or deny this, but I saw it brought up a lot.

Strangely enough the video that some got upset about at 4:45 they said to not put the blame on hyuna but her management. They also hated seeing other people slut shaming her on the internet.
Made videos about Korean culture and the views of Korean people when they couldn’t even speak it.
Again these is about them learning the language and also culture. There’s a lot of people that felt like they misrepresented Korea. However they have said many times that their videos show their time in the places they visit. Yours might be different don’t let this encourage or discourage you.
Overpriced online store.
This is true there’s tons of proof floating around. In my opinion most youtubers I watch do this it is frankly your choice to buy it and support them.
Opening a cafe for one year and then leaving for Japan.
Martina has finally addressed this in a podcast up on YouTube with negative pressure production at 51:08. The friend of ttmik stole money from the cafe and they silently left without hurting ttmik.
Asking to give their employees suzy and leigh privacy only for them (suzy and leigh) to unfollow eyk and start their own YouTube channel.
Rumors spread that There was a falling out. However on Twitter @soozee324 says repeatedly that she misses being part of the team and you guys have been so good to me in December 2015.
Anger about a dead social media.

Now in hindsight we see that Martina was more than likely the main one creating content all these years. So after spudgy and her father… they were going through a divorce and hardship in their relationship. She more than likely wasn’t in the mood to post. This is just my speculation.

Current issues

* Simon taking a trip to Hawaii during COVID.
* Simon naming a new dog fudgey even though Martina stated she didn’t like the name being so close to spudgy.
* Simon Deleting comments on Instagram and blocking accounts.
* Martina following narcissist survivors on her new king.Kogi account.
* Martina official leaving eyk and their discord saying she doesn’t feel safe.
